Managers from across Kainos Community and its parent charity, Langley House Trust, came together last week for a spiritual retreat, at Cloverley Hall Christian Conference Centre in Shropshire.
It was made possible because of a gift from Roy Calvocoressi, one of Langley’s original founders, to enable and encourage the spiritual wellbeing of the Trust.
The retreat was a key time for individuals to reconnect with each other and with their faith in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Practical Bible studies related to refreshing, connecting and restoration – both personally and within the context of working with ex-offenders – were led by Reverend Andy Rider, Rector of Christ Church, Spitalfields, who is also Langley’s Chaplain.
In addition, Elfrida Calvocoressi, Roy’s widow, and worship leader, Luke Hamlyn, provided spiritual support and encouragement.
Both operational and central teams were represented. One staff member commented that this was “an invaluable time to take stock, reconnect with God and leave with renewed passion to help change lives . I am really thankful for this time and for the gift that helped to make this possible.”
